Mattei V-Life Food & V-Life Food Extreme: For Food & Beverage Compressor Applications
If you’re in a food, beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, it's likely that your compressor has the V-Life Food lubricant upgrade. As you probably know, for compliance, your oil must be NSF H1 registered.
V-Life Food & V-Life Food Extreme are designed specifically for compliance with food safety regulations, while maintaining your compressor warranty. These oils are OEM oils designed by Mattei. V-Life Food is sold in quantities of 3.8, 19 and 208 Liters, while V-Life Food Extreme comes in either 19 liter or 208 liter configurations.
What is the difference between V-Life Food & V-Life Food Extreme?
Great question! While both of these oil options carry H1 classification, the main difference lies in the compressors that you should use them for.
For most of Mattei’s compressors, V-Life Food would be the option you would pick. However, if you have a compressor (typically a higher end option like the RVX UP or Maxima) that features Mattei’s Xtreme Oil Injection Technology, you’ll need V-Life Food Extreme oil. This oil is designed to handle intense thermal loads and provide superior cooling. For intense manufacturing applications where horsepower demands are higher, this is the oil to choose.
What about Mattei V-Life Xtreme?
If you are in a non-food environment, but still have a compressor that features Xtreme Oil Injection, you are probably thinking that there is a complementary non-H1 compliant Oil for Xtreme applications - maybe you have even bought V-Life Xtreme in the past!
However, as of 2025, V-Life Xtreme was discontinued by Mattei. RotorOil F2 is now typically the oil that all compressors, regardless of whether they feature Xtreme Oil Injection technology or not, use.
